Rayman Legends Retold Gets a Six Minute Overview Trailer for December 3
Rayman Legends Retold was supposed to be in our hands by now. Ubisoft moved it from October 1 to December 3 in mid September, and the development team's note at the time said the game had gone gold but they wanted extra time to get every detail right. Yesterday we got the first real payoff for that wait: a six minute game overview trailer on Ubisoft's official channel that walks through what Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan have actually changed, rather than the quick montage we saw at gamescom.
The short version is that this is a rebuild rather than a touch-up. The 2013 game's side-scrolling platforming is intact, but the presentation is now fully 3D, the story scenes are voiced, and there is a new villain spreading corruption across the Glade of Dreams. Ubisoft is clearly treating it as a full release, and after it took the Best Nintendo Switch 2 Game prize at the gamescom awards last month, the expectations are set fairly high.

What the overview trailer actually shows
The trailer is long enough to give each of the new pieces its own moment. The headline addition is a sixth realm, a brand new area that did not exist in the original, and it is the source of the corruption the story hangs on. Alongside it come four new musical stages, the levels where every jump and punch lands on the beat, which were the most loved part of the original. The trailer shows them running to the expanded soundtrack, which Christophe Héral and Grant Kirkhope have built out with new compositions sitting next to the original themes.
Dragon rides are the other big new mechanic. These are flying sections where you steer a dragon through a level while shooting, a clear change of pace from the on-foot platforming. The Cave of Trials is a set of skill challenge rooms for people who want something harder than the main path. The Kung Foot football mode, which was mostly a novelty in 2013, has been reworked with power-ups and rules you can customize, and the whole game still supports up to four players in local couch co-op with Rayman, Globox, Barbara and Grand Minimus.
Ubisoft also published a separate accessibility spotlight yesterday with UX designer Andrea Scambia. It lists an arachnophobia mode, a high contrast mode, health modifiers, a Fairy Blessing option that gives invulnerability and flight, an autoshoot toggle for the dragon rides, full control remapping, and no quick time events anywhere in the game. For a game a lot of parents will play with young kids, those settings matter.
Price, editions and what Rayman Origins adds
On Steam in the US the standard edition is $39.99 and the Deluxe Edition is $49.99, with a December 3 release date on the store page. Both editions include Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition, a refreshed version of the 2011 game that Ubisoft says runs at 4K and 60 frames per second with new collectibles. Origins is the game that set up everything Legends did, so getting both for one price is a genuinely good bundle. The Deluxe Edition adds a Retro Pack of four costumes for the playable cast and an in-game art gallery, and pre-ordering any edition adds the Hoodlum Havoc Pack, two costumes for Rayman and Globox in the style of Rayman 3.
The platform list is PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Ubisoft Store. Ubisoft's original announcement also listed GeForce Now and Blacknut for cloud play. We have not seen a console price on the official pages, so we are only quoting the Steam figure here.
Our take is simple. A two month delay for a game that had already gone gold is unusual, and it made us slightly nervous. The overview trailer does a lot to calm that. The music levels look right, the co-op is intact, and the bundled Origins makes the price easy to justify. December 3 is a crowded slot, but a four player platformer the whole family can play is a good thing to have in the run-up to the holidays.
