How we rank

We ranked troops on how often they show up in winning attack armies at high town halls, how well they cope with the current defenses, and how flexible they are across army styles. Cost and ease of use matter too, but raw impact on a three star attack counts most. Builder Base and Clan Capital troops are left out of this list.

Tier by tier

S Tier, the meta

  • Root Rider: Breaks walls on its own and hits key buildings fast
  • Yeti: Tanky, and its Yetimites keep the push going
  • Balloon: Core of air armies from mid to max levels
  • Electro Titan: Chain lightning melts packed bases
  • Headhunter: Counters defending heroes with a slow and big damage
  • Super Bowler: Bouncing boulders wreck ground smash attacks
  • Sneaky Goblin: Invisible for 5 seconds, best loot farmer

A Tier, excellent

  • Dragon: Easy to use, great in mass with spell support
  • Healer: Keeps Queen Charge and hero pushes alive
  • Electro Dragon: Chaining damage, strong in dragon armies
  • Baby Dragon: Cheap air unit with a rage boost
  • Miner: Burrows past defenses, reliable all round
  • Valkyrie: Spin damage clears tightly packed bases
  • Hog Rider: Fast jumper, strong dark elixir classic

B Tier, solid

  • P.E.K.K.A: Heavy hitter, but slow and expensive
  • Wizard: Solid damage, very fragile
  • Golem: Good tank, needs a supporting army
  • Lava Hound: Great decoy for air armies, little damage itself
  • Super Hog Rider: Decent boosted version, narrower use

C Tier, situational

  • Archer: Cheap filler, weak in later town halls
  • Giant: Basic tank, easily outclassed
  • Goblin: Only good for loot raids
  • Inferno Dragon: Strong on paper, slow to ramp up

D Tier, skip

  • Barbarian: Outdated outside early town halls
  • Ice Hound: Rarely worth the housing space
  • Super Valkyrie: Boost rarely pays off in attacks

Clash of Clans tier list FAQ

What is the best troop in Clash of Clans right now?

Root Rider and Electro Titan lead the pack in most rankings, with Balloon, Yeti and Headhunter close behind.

Which super troop is best?

Sneaky Goblin is the top pick for farming, and Super Bowler is the strongest for ground smash attacks.

Is the Barbarian still worth using?

Not for serious attacks. It only helps at low town halls or as cheap filler.

How often does this list change?

We revisit it after balance updates and new troop releases. Treat tiers as a guide, since the best army still depends on your town hall and the base you attack.
