This AFK Journey hero tier list ranks the current season meta as of July 2026, where the twins Elijah & Lailah are still the single most important pull in the game.

We scored thirty notable heroes across the three endgame pillars, AFK stages, Dream Realm bosses and PvP, then averaged their standing rather than crowning mode specialists.

AFK Journey is unusually mode dependent, so read the notes: a B hero here can still be the best pick for one specific fight.

How we rank

We rank by combined performance across AFK stages, Dream Realm and PvP, using two sources updated in July 2026. The fresher of the two breaks heroes down per mode, so when the sources disagreed, and they do on a few big names like Phraesto and Reinier, we trusted the per mode data and placed the hero mid table instead of picking the friendlier verdict. Faction bonuses, seasonal artifacts and your roster depth can easily move a hero one tier either way for your account.

S Tier, the meta

  • Elijah & Lailah: The most important pull, enables every top team
  • Gunnar: Top marks in all three modes right now
  • Solise: Elite in stages, bosses and PvP alike
  • Saida: PvP terror who also carries AFK stages
  • Silven: Season standout, strong everywhere it matters
  • Contess: Dream Realm and PvP monster this season
  • Shadewing: Great in every mode, best in Dream Realm

A Tier, excellent

  • Baelran: Excellent in stages and PvP, good on bosses
  • Ravion: Boss killer with real PvP presence
  • Faramor: Dream Realm staple, only PvP holds him back
  • Mehira: Strong stage pusher with all round utility
  • Shemira: Veteran boss damage dealer, still very relevant
  • Frieren: Collab mage and elite stage clearer
  • Velara: Stage and Dream Realm standout this season
  • Galahad: Reshaped Dream Realm on release, still strong

B Tier, solid

  • Alna: Great tank in stages and PvP, weak on bosses
  • Himmel: Collab warrior, solid stages, average elsewhere
  • Cyran: Stage and PvP specialist, skips boss content
  • Athalia: PvP assassin first, filler everywhere else
  • Zanie: Boss specialist with decent stage value
  • Phraesto: Sources split on him, we landed mid table
  • Reinier: Utility support whose stock keeps sliding

C Tier, situational

  • Thoran: Tanky counter niche, mostly PvP these days
  • Eironn: Pull combo is still fun, no longer meta
  • Daimon: Decent tank outclassed by newer options
  • Rowan: Energy support, fine early, fades late
  • Odie: Old single target carry, power crept hard

D Tier, skip

  • Mirael: Bottom tier in every mode we checked
  • Atalanta: Consistently last across both sources
  • Valen: No mode where he earns a team slot

Who is the best hero in AFK Journey right now?

Elijah & Lailah. The celestial twins provide energy generation, haste and ultimate refunds that entire team compositions are built around, and both of our sources treat them as the highest priority pull in the game.

Is Galahad worth building in 2026?

Yes, especially for Dream Realm. He reshaped that mode when he released and dethroned older boss killers like Shemira in many encounters. He is less impressive in PvP, which is why he sits in A rather than S on our combined list.

Why do AFK Journey tier lists disagree so much?

Because the game has several endgame modes with very different rules. A hero can be S tier in AFK stages and C tier in Dream Realm at the same time. We averaged across modes, so a specialist like Cyran lands lower here than on a pure PvP list.

Are the collab heroes like Frieren and Himmel still good?

Frieren remains an elite stage clearer and earns her A tier spot, while Himmel is solid but more situational. If they return in a rerun and you enjoy the characters, Frieren is the stronger investment of the two.
