Anime Defenders Unit Tier List (August 2026)
Last checked July 29, 2026
This Anime Defenders unit tier list ranks the units we would actually spend Trait Rerolls and gems on right now, from the meta carries down to the ones we quietly retired.
We cross-checked the two most recently updated community rankings (both refreshed in July 2026) and kept only units that appear in current source lists, so nothing here is leftover from the Update 6 era.
If a unit you own is missing, it most likely sits below these picks rather than above them.

Princess Swordmaster How we rank
We rank units on damage output after their final evolution, utility such as crowd control and buffs, cost efficiency during a real wave economy, and how well they hold up across story, infinite and event modes. Where our two sources disagree we follow the more recent ranking, and we do not list units we could not find in either source.
Tier by tier
S Tier, the meta
- Shadow Dragon: Consensus best unit, boosts range and cuts nearby cooldowns
- Legion Commander: Tanky frontline damage that breaks through packed waves
- The Cursed Knight: Life drain keeps it alive through long endgame rounds
- The Rift Sorcerer: Huge burst damage, still a meta staple
- The Pro Gamer: Top sustained damage with strong team buffs
- Demon King: Massive area damage once fully upgraded
- Chance King: Luck based procs swing hard in your favor
- Ice Dragon Queen: Ranged slows plus frost aura control the map
- Bear King: Great stats and crowd control for its cost
- Legion Assassin: Fast single target shredder for boss waves
A Tier, excellent
- Flame Dragon God: Reliable burn damage, just short of elite
- Pink Rockstar: Best farm unit, buffs allies while printing cash
- Pink Demon Witch: Strong area damage with useful debuffs
- Fire Demon Ninja: Solid mid game carry with fast attacks
- Cursed Fighter: Cheap, hits hard early, scales decently
- Slime Spirit Queen: Good support value and steady area damage
- Water Grandmaster: Dependable area hits with slow utility
- Legion Veteran: Budget version of the Legion carries
- Monster Sorcerer: Summons add real value on long maps
- Bloomer: Sleeper pick, strong once fully evolved
B Tier, solid
- Curse King: Fine damage but outclassed by newer units
- Donut Warrior: Fun tank, usable on most story stages
- Elf Hero: Early game workhorse that falls off late
- Muscular Sorcerer: Decent stats, needs the enhanced form to shine
- Warrior Princess: Balanced melee pick for story content
- Chief of Ice: Slows help, damage is only average
C Tier, situational
- Skull Paladin: Situational tank, better options exist now
- Thunder God: Once meta, power crept hard since
- Ant King: Needs the unlocked form to matter
- Dragon Mage: Only worth using while still progressing
D Tier, skip
- The Demon Overlord: Underwhelming stats for the rarity
- Princess Swordmaster: Skip unless you own nothing better

Anime Defenders tier list FAQ
Who is the best unit in Anime Defenders right now?
Shadow Dragon is the consensus pick in current rankings. Its aura extends the range of nearby units by 25 percent and trims their cooldowns, so it makes every other tower on the map better while still dealing strong damage itself.
What is the best farming unit in Anime Defenders?
Pink Rockstar. It boosts the resources you earn each wave and buffs the damage of units inside its radius at the same time, which is why we run it in almost every long game even though pure damage units outhit it.
How often does the Anime Defenders meta change?
Roughly every major update. New banner units and evolutions regularly push older picks down a tier, so we re-check the rankings after each patch and refresh this page when the top tiers actually move.
Are Anime Defenders tier lists the same for every game mode?
Not exactly. Story mode is forgiving enough that most A and B tier units clear it fine, while infinite and raid content is where S tier range, buffs and crowd control really separate the meta picks from the rest.
