This Genshin Impact character tier list ranks 30 of the most talked about characters for July 2026, from the Luna era heavyweights down to the units we would honestly skip.

We merged the two most recent rankings from Game8 and Pocket Tactics, both refreshed in July 2026 for version 6.7, and kept the consensus wherever they disagreed.

Short version: Mavuika, Skirk and the newest Luna era characters are the safest pulls right now, while several older favorites have slid into comfortable mid tiers.

How we rank

We rank characters by how they perform in current endgame content at zero constellations, using the July 2026 rankings from Game8 (version 6.7, updated July 21) and Pocket Tactics (updated July 1). Main DPS, sub DPS and supports share one list, so a character earns their tier by how much they matter in the strongest current teams, not by raw damage alone. When the two sources disagreed, we went with the more recent call.

Tier by tier

S Tier, the meta

  • Mavuika: Top Pyro carry, anchors the strongest teams
  • Skirk: Elite Cryo damage with huge burst windows
  • Flins: Electro powerhouse, instantly meta on release
  • Sandrone: Easy to play, easy to slot, massive damage
  • Varka: The long wait paid off, dominant right away
  • Columbina: Meta defining off field damage in most teams
  • Furina: Still the best universal damage amplifier
  • Lauma: Premier Dendro support for reaction teams
  • Ineffa: Flexible Electro unit that fits almost everywhere
  • Bennett: Years later, still the best budget buffer

A Tier, excellent

  • Neuvillette: Self sufficient Hydro carry, needs little support
  • Arlecchino: Best Pyro polearm carry, still hits hard
  • Zibai: Strong new main DPS, teams still settling
  • Nefer: Excellent damage but wants a dedicated team
  • Kaedehara Kazuha: Grouping and buffs never go out of style
  • Nahida: The heart of every Dendro reaction team
  • Xilonen: Top tier shred, healing and flexibility
  • Escoffier: Great Cryo support with healing and shred

B Tier, solid

  • Yelan: Reliable off field Hydro damage
  • Raiden Shogun: Aging but still solid in Electro teams
  • Alhaitham: Strong quicken carry, feeling the power creep
  • Hu Tao: Good damage behind a demanding playstyle
  • Xiangling: Classic off field Pyro on a budget

C Tier, situational

  • Tartaglia: Outclassed by newer Hydro carries
  • Wanderer: Fun to play, middling damage in 2026
  • Yoimiya: Single target only, falls behind the pack

D Tier, skip

  • Dehya: The kit still does not come together
  • Xinyan: Very little reason to build her
  • Amber: Early game only, retire her kindly
  • Aloy: Free but forgettable

Who is the best character in Genshin Impact right now?

Both of our July 2026 sources put Mavuika and Skirk at the very top, alongside new Luna era releases like Flins, Sandrone and Varka. If you want one pull that lifts every team, Columbina and Furina are the standout flexible picks.

Is Neuvillette still good in 2026?

Yes. He is no longer the outright king he was in Fontaine, but he remains one of the most self sufficient carries in the game and clears current endgame comfortably, which is why we keep him in A tier.

Do I need S tier characters to clear endgame content?

No. Well built B tier teams still clear the Spiral Abyss and the newer endgame modes. Bennett and Xiangling in particular remain excellent free to play cores after all these years.

How often does the Genshin Impact meta change?

Roughly every patch cycle. The Luna versions shook the rankings up more than usual, with several new characters landing straight in S tier, so we revisit this list as the sources update.
