Konami and Capcom Book Their Own September Shows: Press Start on the 3rd, a 40 Minute Spotlight on the 16th

If you were planning to get any work done this month, the showcase calendar has other ideas. Konami and Capcom both stepped forward today with their own September broadcasts, and the first one is barely 48 hours away.

Konami's show is called Press Start, and it airs Thursday, September 3 at 8:00am PT / 11:00am ET / 4:00pm BST on the company's official YouTube channel. The key art puts three games front and center: Silent Hill: Townfall, which launches September 24, Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, dated October 15, and Rev. NOiR, the stylish RPG Konami has been teasing since earlier this year. The company promises brand new gameplay footage and video messages from the development teams, plus exclusive footage revealed during the broadcast.

September 3 is now a full showcase morning

Here is the fun part: Konami picked the exact same day as Sony. PlayStation already has a double feature booked for September 3, with the main State of Play starting at 6:00am PT and State of Play Japan airing right after. Konami's 8:00am PT slot lands two hours later, which means anyone in the Americas can theoretically roll from Sony's shows straight into Press Start without leaving the couch. Europeans get a civilized afternoon of it instead.

Konami also did something refreshingly honest with expectations. The company stated up front that there will be no announcements regarding a Silent Hill remake, a preemptive strike against the rumor mill that has followed every Konami broadcast for years. Given how often showcase hype curdles into disappointment over things that were never promised, we wish more publishers did this. What is actually on the table is still substantial: Townfall is three weeks from release and has been deliberately secretive, so real gameplay would be its biggest showing yet.

Capcom saves its show for Tokyo Game Show week

Capcom's turn comes two weeks later. The next Capcom Spotlight airs Wednesday, September 16 at 7:00am PT / 10:00am ET / 11:00pm JST, runs about 40 minutes, and streams with subtitles in 13 languages. It is timed as the curtain raiser for Tokyo Game Show 2026, which runs September 17 to 21 at Makuhari Messe.

The confirmed lineup is stacked: Pragmata, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, Mega Man: Dual Override, Dragon's Dogma II: Dark Arisen, Street Fighter 6 and Onimusha: Way of the Sword. That last one is interesting for its placement. Onimusha launches September 4, fresh off its Best Gameplay win at the gamescom awards, so by Spotlight time Capcom will be talking to players already holding the game, likely about what comes next for it.

Our take: none of this guarantees megatons, and September hardly needed more appointments. But two focused publisher shows beat one bloated one, and both companies are showing games you can actually play within weeks. Set your alarms for Thursday first.
