No Rest for the Wicked Slips Again: Moon Studios Moves the 1.0 Launch From October to March 2027
We had No Rest for the Wicked circled on the October calendar, and now we can uncircle it. Moon Studios, the team behind the Ori games, announced today that version 1.0 of its punishing action RPG is moving from October 2026 to March 2027. The studio opened its post with an unusually direct line, saying it has important news and wants to be honest with players, which is about the healthiest way we have seen a delay framed all year.

The reasoning is simple enough. After months of internal playtesting, the studio decided the game was not where it needed to be. In its own words, the extra time will help the team improve performance, tighten the class system, and polish the whole game to the standard players deserve. Performance has been the most persistent complaint since the game hit Steam early access in 2024, and the class system is one of the headline additions promised for 1.0, so both call-outs land exactly where the community's concerns already were.
What changes for players right now
The practical details matter more than the date itself. Version 1.0 is still coming to PC via Steam and to PlayStation 5, with Xbox Series and Switch 2 versions following later. Before launch, Moon Studios plans additional closed beta tests over the coming months, then an open beta in December that anyone can try. If you have been waiting to see whether this game clicks for you, that December window is now the real date to watch.
The Founder's Pack situation also improves. The cutoff for earning the founder rewards, which include the Spirit Cavern hideout and the Sayer's Vow sword, was originally tied to the summer. It now extends to anyone who buys the game on Steam before January 1, 2027. PlayStation 5 pre-orders open in January 2027, and console players can pick up the founder rewards at that point as well. The studio says its Wicked Inside showcase will return soon with more details.
Our take
We will not pretend a five month slip stings less because the message was polite, but this is the right call. The soulslike space has been crowded all year, Mortal Shell II went from advanced access to full launch in August and Nioh 3 shipped its first expansion weeks ahead of schedule, so a 1.0 that stutters on mid-range hardware would have been buried within a week. No Rest for the Wicked has been quietly improving through big early access updates for over two years. Landing the full release in a quieter March, with a public beta in between, gives this game its best shot at the launch it has been building toward.
