ONiON How we rank
We rank characters by their value in the current endgame, mainly Mane's Bulletin and the hardest event fights, weighing damage ceiling, support value and how well a unit works without specific teammates. Recent balance buffs count, and older units drop when power creep passes them, not because they stopped working in story content.
Tier by tier
S Tier, the meta
- Beryl: Broken since release, dominates every PvE mode
- Brume: Top tier damage with excellent self sufficiency
- Anjo Nala: Contract mechanic makes any carry stronger
- Flutterpage: Game changing support, enables entire teams
- Isolde: Burn and defense shred, premier debuffer
- Charon: Elite damage dealer in both recent rankings
- Lorentz Butterfly: New powerhouse, instantly meta on release
- Ezio Auditore: Admonition stacks fuel devastating AoE nukes
A Tier, excellent
- Rhiannon: Recent unit with a very high ceiling
- Enigma: Strong in both rankings, flexible role
- Kiperina: Consistent top performer across modes
- Ulrich: Heavy hitter who holds his meta spot
- Hedone: New release, already rated among the best
- Windsong: Burst hypercarry, still excellent with setup
- Fatutu: Premier healer with strong offensive support
- Kakania: Best defensive support, absorbs and returns damage
- Jiu Niangzi: Reliable damage dealer, ages remarkably well
B Tier, solid
- An-an Lee: Two rounds of damage amp and reduction
- Liang Yue: Recent buffs pushed her back into relevance
- Lucy: Strong sustained damage in the right team
- Vila: Healer and crit support, still very usable
- Bkornblume: Budget debuffer that never fully retired
C Tier, situational
- Tooth Fairy: Former staple healer, crit kit power crept
- Sonetto: Free starter buffer, fine until late game
- Regulus: Launch star whose damage no longer keeps up
- Shamane: Defense shred still works, better options exist
D Tier, skip
- Tennant: Shield kit that current content ignores
- Mesmer Jr.: Outclassed at everything she tries to do
- Sputnik: Low rarity filler, no endgame role
- ONiON: Bottom of every list, purely a collectible

Reverse: 1999 tier list FAQ
Who is the best character in Reverse: 1999 right now?
Beryl is the safest answer in the August 2026 meta. She has been dominant since release and tops the most recent rankings, with Brume, Anjo Nala and Flutterpage right behind her. Among damage dealers, Ezio Auditore stands out for his stacking AoE nukes.
Are the old meta supports like An-an Lee and Tooth Fairy still worth building?
An-an Lee still gives two rounds of damage amplification and damage reduction, so she remains a fine budget option. Tooth Fairy has been power crept harder, and newer healers like Fatutu and Kakania do her job better in endgame content.
Should I pull for new characters or save?
Recent releases in this game tend to land at the top of the meta, as Lorentz Butterfly and Hedone show. If you are free to play, saving for limited units in the S tier of this list is the most efficient use of your pulls.
Do low tier characters make story content impossible?
No. Story mode is forgiving, and even C tier units clear it comfortably. This ranking mainly matters for endgame modes like Mane's Bulletin, where damage checks and team synergy actually punish weaker rosters.
