Subterra Codes (Active and Expired)

Subterra codes arrive with hotfixes, community milestones and the odd anniversary, so I cross-check this list against Pocket Tactics, PCGamesN and Roblox Den every time I touch it. Right now the 1YEAR anniversary code is the single biggest Chrono Shard payout on the board.
Subterra codes are the short strings Polyworks Studio hands out when the game ships a hotfix, crosses a member count on the community, or hits a like target, and they pay straight into your mining wallet for free Chrono Shards, gold, TNT blocks, Wormhole and Return by Death potions, and timed double experience. everything in Subterra comes back to how deep you can dig. Chrono Shards are the premium currency that buys pickaxe and backpack upgrades, TNT clears rock you would otherwise chip at for minutes, and Wormhole and Return by Death potions get you out of a collapsing tunnel alive. Double experience is the one I would time carefully, since it only counts while you are actually mining.
Quick tip. redeem the Chrono Shard codes first and the double experience codes last, right before a long dive. The shard rewards sit in your balance forever, but the experience boosts start ticking the moment you claim them. I burned an hour of double XP once by redeeming everything in one go and then going to sort my inventory.

If one returns 'invalid', it was most likely a hotfix code that Polyworks closed when the next patch shipped. I will have whatever replaced it here on the next sweep. One older code, RELEASE, is reported live by one tracker and dead by another, so I left it off until the sources agree.
Expired Subterra codes
Each of these marked a milestone or a patch that has since been passed: a member count on the Roblox group, a visit target, a like tier, or a hotfix. Once the game moved on, the code closed.

Fresh Subterra codes show up whenever Polyworks pushes a hotfix or the community crosses a round number, and the code names spell it out. HOTFIX1.4.60 was the apology for a patch, 100KMEMBERS marked one hundred thousand people on the Roblox group, and 1YEAR celebrated the first anniversary. Redemption happens at the Codes NPC next to the gate at spawn, not in a menu, and you need to finish the tutorial first. Codes are case sensitive, one use per account, and the hotfix ones tend to retire when the next patch lands.

How to redeem Subterra codes
No website and no settings menu. Subterra puts the whole thing on an NPC standing next to the gate at spawn, and the rewards hit your balance the moment you claim.
- Open Subterra in Roblox and finish the tutorial if you have not already.
- From spawn, walk to the right of the gate and find the Codes NPC (some trackers call him Chrysos).
- Talk to the NPC to open the code box.
- Type or paste a code exactly as written, capitals included.
- Press Claim Code. Chrono Shards, potions and TNT land in your inventory right away.
Some codes require you to be a member of the Polyworks Studio community on Roblox before they will accept. If the NPC rejects a code that should be live, join the group, rejoin the server and try again.
Subterra codes FAQ
What do Subterra codes actually give you?
Chrono Shards above all, which is the premium currency behind pickaxe, backpack and storage upgrades. A handful add TNT blocks, Wormhole and Return by Death potions, or a timed double experience boost. Nothing cosmetic, it is all progression.
Why does my code say it's invalid?
Three usual suspects. The code is case sensitive and you typed it in lowercase, the code was a hotfix reward that closed with the next patch, or the code needs you to be in the Polyworks Studio community first. The Copy button rules out the first, and joining the group rules out the third.
Are there Robux codes for Subterra?
No. Polyworks only hands out in game currency and consumables through codes. Anyone promising Robux for Subterra is fishing for clicks.
Where is the Codes NPC in Subterra?
At spawn, to the right of the main gate, near the bridge. He is a named NPC rather than a menu button, which trips up players looking through Settings for a code box. Finish the tutorial first or the lobby will not let you wander over.
How many Subterra codes are usually live?
Somewhere between five and eight at any given time. Polyworks retires hotfix codes quickly but leaves the milestone and anniversary ones running for weeks, so the anniversary shard drop is the one to grab if you only redeem once.
Where do new Subterra codes show up first?
The Polyworks Studio Discord, usually within minutes of a patch or a milestone, followed by the game description on Roblox. Pocket Tactics, PCGamesN and Roblox Den mirror them within a day, which is where I cross-check before adding anything here.
