Tower Defense Simulator Tower Tier List (September 2026)

Last checked August 19, 2026

This Tower Defense Simulator tower tier list ranks 30 towers for August 2026, based on the v2.3.0 balance era with the fresh v2.4.0 changes still settling.

We compared two current lists and weighted the endgame modes, Fallen and Hardcore, over casual play, because that is where loadout choices actually get punished.

Golden skins are ranked separately from their base towers since the gap is often a full tier.

How we rank

We cross checked an August 2 list against a mid July one and kept the placements they agree on, which is most of the top end. Where they disagreed, like Rocketeer, we sided with the majority view across recent sources. Rankings assume you are building toward Fallen or Hardcore wins with a coordinated loadout, so pure economy and support towers rank on impact, not on damage dealt.

Tier by tier

S Tier, the meta

  • Accelerator: Best single target damage once charge is managed
  • Engineer: Sentries stack into absurd late game damage
  • Golden Minigunner: Deletes health bars with Commander and DJ support
  • Commander: Firerate aura, near mandatory in every loadout
  • Farm: The engine of your economy, skip at your peril
  • Ranger: Huge range and burst, a Hardcore staple
  • DJ Booth: Discount and range aura keeps whole teams running
  • Golden Crook Boss: Goon spawns plus real damage, best hybrid tower

A Tier, excellent

  • Turret: Heavy damage, the placement limit keeps it honest
  • Gatling Gun: Shreds crowds once the spin up gets rolling
  • Golden Cowboy: Cash generation and damage in a single slot
  • Cowboy: Early economy pick that still shoots back
  • Electroshocker: Chain stuns slow whole pushes to a crawl
  • Mortar: Cluster splash blankets lanes for wave clear
  • Ace Pilot: Consistent flying damage with zero placement worries

B Tier, solid

  • Brawler: Cheap tanky melee that punches above its cost
  • Necromancer: Skeleton swarms carry midgame, fade against bosses
  • Pyromancer: Burn stacks help early, weak on boss waves
  • Medic: Stun cleanse got valuable with recent stun heavy bosses
  • Minigunner: Honest damage, fully outclassed by its golden version
  • Trapper: Landmines chunk waves if you place ahead of time

C Tier, situational

  • Crook Boss: Fine midgame, the golden version does everything better
  • Military Base: Vehicles block and distract, rarely kill enough
  • Freezer: The slow helps, the damage barely exists
  • Militant: Budget filler you replace by the midgame

D Tier, skip

  • Scout: Starter tower, retire it as soon as possible
  • Sniper: Slow single shots cannot keep up anymore
  • Paintballer: Splash sounds nice, the numbers say otherwise
  • Rocketeer: Explosions look great and achieve very little
  • Demoman: Bouncing bombs miss too often to matter

Tower Defense Simulator tier list FAQ

What is the best tower in Tower Defense Simulator right now?

Accelerator remains the top damage pick in August 2026, with Engineer and Golden Minigunner right behind. None of them reach full power without Commander and DJ Booth support, which is why all five sit in S tier together.

Why is Farm S tier when it deals no damage?

Because money wins games. Without maxed Farms you cannot afford the expensive late game towers that actually stop Fallen and Hardcore bosses. Most failed runs die to a starved economy, not to a bad damage tower.

Are golden skins worth the coins?

Golden Minigunner, Golden Crook Boss and Golden Cowboy are clear upgrades and rank a tier or more above their base versions. Golden Pyromancer and Golden Demoman are much weaker value, so pick your golden crates with that in mind.

Does the ranking change depending on the mode?

Yes, quite a lot. Ranger and Accelerator matter most in Hardcore, Electroshocker and crowd control towers shine in Fallen wave spam, and in casual modes almost anything works. We weight the harder modes because that is where players consult tier lists.
