James Bond fans just got their first real reason to reinstall. IO Interactive has released update 1.1.0 for 007 First Light, and it is the game's first proper content drop since launch rather than a simple hotfix. The studio says the patch addresses over 200 issues reported by the community and its own play testers, and it bundles in the first wave of the Year One content plan that was laid out back in June.

The headline additions live in TacSim, the tactical simulation mode where Bond runs training scenarios outside the main story. Two new Escalation missions, The Workshop and Extraction Avenues, each come with three tiers of escalating objectives that lean into stealth and improvisation. Alongside them come three new weapons, the Stormberg 50'cal, the DRX-2 Machine Pistol and the DRS-7 Silenced SMG, plus a new Diamond in the Rough outfit for Bond. None of it costs real money. Everything ships inside the free update and unlocks through TacSim progression.

A very uneven download depending on your platform

The update is live on every platform, but the download size varies wildly. PlayStation 5 owners take the biggest hit at 23.84 GB, while everyone else gets off lightly: 3.6 GB on Steam, 3.99 GB on the Epic Games Store, 2.24 GB on the Microsoft Store PC version and just 1.39 GB on Xbox Series consoles. If you are on PS5 with a slow connection, you may want to start that download before dinner.

The fix list is long and touches almost every corner of the game. Among the more notable repairs: main menu videos no longer play at double speed after waking a console from standby, a crash on Xbox Series S during the All the Time in the World car cinematic is gone, and several achievements that refused to unlock, including Casino Royale and For Your Eyes Only, now pop correctly. A TacSim crash tied to the Red Room Shotgun has also been squashed.

Our take

This is the update that tells us how seriously IO Interactive is treating its Year One promise, and the early signs are good. The June roadmap sketched out a steady stream of TacSim scenarios set everywhere from Slovakia's mountain roads to a luxury resort in Vietnam, and The Workshop was the first named stop on that list. Delivering it on schedule, with meaningful gear and a genuinely large fix pass, is exactly what a live single player game needs to keep people coming back. The studio says more improvements and content updates are already in development. If the cadence holds, Bond's first year on duty is shaping up to be a busy one.
