Ace Attorney Dual Destinies VR Comes to Meta Quest in 2027
Nine years without a new Ace Attorney game, and the one that finally shows up is played standing in a courtroom with a headset on. Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies VR was announced this week during Meta Connect, as part of the games lineup Meta showed for its new Meta VR Glasses. It comes from AMATA K.K., a Japanese studio working under license from Capcom, and it is due in 2027 on Meta Quest 3, Quest 3S, Quest Pro, Quest 2 and the Meta VR Glasses themselves. The price has not been announced.
This is the first Ace Attorney game made for virtual reality, 25 years after the series started on the Game Boy Advance in October 2001. It did not come out of Capcom's own Tokyo Game Show showcase last week, which we recapped in our Capcom Spotlight TGS 2026 roundup, but from Meta's stage, which tells you who is paying for this one.

What Dual Destinies VR actually is
It is a remake, not a new case file. Dual Destinies is the fifth mainline entry, first released on Nintendo 3DS in 2013, and it puts three lawyers on the roster: Phoenix Wright, back with his badge, plus Apollo Justice and the newcomer Athena Cykes. The official site says you play as all three across multiple episodic cases, following the same story of the so-called Dark Age of the Law, with its twists and its dramatic reveals intact.
What changes is how you interact with it. Crime scenes are now 3D spaces you can walk around and inspect from every angle, and you pick up and examine evidence with hand tracking or motion controls instead of tapping a touch screen. In court, the trailer shows you facing the witness stand directly, pointing at the person you want to challenge and presenting evidence with your own hand. And yes, the Objection is voice activated. You say it out loud and Phoenix says it with you. If you have ever wanted to do that without your family staring at you, a headset is probably the safest place to try.
The listing on the Meta Horizon Store already exists for wishlisting, with a 12+ rating and seven languages confirmed: English, Japanese, French, German, Korean, and Traditional and Simplified Chinese. It is a single player game, filed under a genre the developer calls Courtroom Battle, which is the kind of label we can get behind.
Why Meta, and what it means for the wait
Meta VR Glasses are the headline of this year's Connect, a lighter headset due in spring 2027, and Meta says every Quest game will run on them. Dual Destinies VR is one of the titles Meta chose to put in front of the crowd, next to Beat Saber's big update and Tetris Effect: Mixed Realities, so its 2027 date is clearly tied to the new hardware. The good news for anyone who already owns a Quest 2 or Quest 3 is that the official platform list includes those headsets too, so you will not need to buy new glasses to play it.
Our honest take: this is a lovely thing to exist and a slightly strange answer to the question fans have been asking for nine years. Dual Destinies is a good game with an odd reputation, the one entry that was digital only on 3DS in the West and waited until the Apollo Justice trilogy in 2024 for a proper home console release, so a full VR rebuild is a generous way to give it a second life. But it is a remake headed to a platform most Ace Attorney players do not own, and it still leaves the series with no new mainline story since 2017. We will take the courtroom in VR, and we will keep waiting for the seventh game.
