Capcom Spotlight TGS 2026 Recap: Teostra Returns in Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, Proto Man Is Playable in Mega Man: Dual Override, and Pragmata Gets a Free Mega Man Pack

Capcom's Tokyo Game Show curtain raiser aired this morning, and if you came for a surprise new game, you left without one. What the roughly 40 minute Capcom Spotlight did instead was fill in the blanks on six games we already knew about, and for most of them the blanks were the interesting part. Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance got its first returning Elder Dragon and a pair of quality of life fixes that base game players will get too. Mega Man: Dual Override finally showed how Proto Man plays. Pragmata picked up a free Mega Man crossover and its first ever discount. And Street Fighter 6 and Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen walked away with confirmed October dates.

We booked this show in our calendar two weeks ago expecting exactly this kind of lineup, and Capcom delivered on that rather than on rumor mill hopes. The full English broadcast is below.

Ascendance brings back Teostra and fixes two things everyone complained about

The Monster Hunter segment was the headliner. Teostra, the fire breathing Elder Dragon that has been a series regular since 2006, is confirmed for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, joining the already revealed Lao-Shan Lung, the storm controlling newcomer Gundoraja and the flocking bird wyverns called Araketa. The expansion is set in the Eastlands some years after the main story, adds new locales including the Forbidden Lands, Madoi Stronghold and the Skybound Eyrie, and introduces Master Rank quests. The big combat addition is the Boost Bracer, a piece of kit attached to the slinger that opens up new attacks across all 14 weapon types.

The part that made us sit up was smaller. Capcom confirmed that faster weapon swapping without calling your Seikret, and the ability to change gear at an item box without going back to your tent, are coming in a patch alongside Ascendance and will apply to the base game as well. Those are two of the longest running gripes about Wilds, so it is good to see them handled for everyone rather than locked behind the expansion. The official page still lists the release as "Coming 2027" for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and Steam with cross-play, and no price was announced. If you want to play it early, the first public demo runs at TGS this week, then at Paris Games Week from October 22 to 25 and TwitchCon San Diego from November 13 to 15. The base game lands on Switch 2 on December 4, as Nintendo's Direct announced last week.

Proto Man gets his turn, and Pragmata borrows him for free

Mega Man: Dual Override, the 40th anniversary game due in 2027, spent its segment on the second half of its title. You pick Mega Man or Proto Man for the whole game, and they play differently: Mega Man keeps the balanced Mega Buster and Special Weapons approach, while Proto Man is the close range, higher damage option who fights with his shield and can overheat if you lean on his abilities too hard. Both share a new Custom Chip system with more than 50 chips that add active and passive upgrades, and the Override mechanic lets either hero temporarily push past their limits with a change in stats and appearance. Areas are built as three stages each instead of the classic eight stage grid, and Capcom's official page says amiibo figures will launch alongside the game. A playable build is on the TGS show floor.

The crossover we did not expect landed in Pragmata. A free Mega Man Pack adds two sets of Mega Man outfits for Hugh and two sets of Roll outfits for Diana, plus gestures and background music, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and Steam. Coverage of the show puts the pack's arrival at September 17. More useful for anyone still on the fence: Pragmata is on sale for the first time since launch, 20 percent off at $47.99 for a limited time. Given the game has already passed 2.5 million copies, this is the moment Capcom picked to go after the next wave.

October is now a Capcom month

Street Fighter 6 confirmed that Arjun, the second Year 4 fighter, arrives on October 13 on all platforms, and C. Viper's Outfit 4 lands the same day as the latest entry in the swimsuit line, with her stilettos, gloves and sunglasses intact. Capcom also has a tie-in with the live action Street Fighter film in the works, with free challenger screen visuals featuring characters from the movie, which premieres worldwide on October 16. Arjun is playable for the first time at the TGS booth.

Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen kept its October 9 date and got a new trailer showing off the expanded character creator, which is being made available ahead of the expansion, along with new official pawns recruited from creators around the world, with more added over time. The expansion is $29.99 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam, and the full Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen package including the base game is $49.99 on those platforms and Switch 2. Onimusha: Way of the Sword, out since September 4, rounded out the lineup, and Monster Hunter Outlanders, the mobile open world game co-developed with TiMi, closed the show with a trailer and a reminder that pre-registration is open on the App Store and Google Play.

Our take: no megaton, and Capcom never promised one. But a show that dates two October releases, fixes real annoyances in its biggest game for everyone, and discounts a two million seller is a show that respects people who already own these games. That is rarer than it should be in September.
