Apex Legends Season 30 Skips the New Legend and Rebuilds Bloodhound Instead, With a Reworked World's Edge

Apex Legends kicked off Season 30 on August 4, and Respawn made an unusual call for a milestone season: there is no new legend. Marked spends that budget on rebuilding Bloodhound from the ground up, reshaping World's Edge, and quietly rewriting how a whole ammo type works. On paper that sounds like a light season. In practice it is one of the heavier patches the game has had in a while.

We like this trade more than we expected to. The roster is already enormous, and a rework that changes how millions of matches play day to day arguably matters more than a thirtieth pick on the select screen.

Bloodhound plays like a different legend now

The rework touches every part of the kit. The new passive marks fresh enemy clues with a red trail, and white ravens now point toward fights from up to four hundred meters away. The tactical still scans, but differently: a three second full-body scan on activation, followed by four snapshot pings that update enemy positions instead of one frozen picture.

The headline change is the ultimate. Beast of the Hunt is gone, replaced by Allfather's Cloak, a deployable device that cloaks every legend who enters its area. Cloaked players move twenty percent faster and keep the effect for twelve seconds after leaving, or until they take damage or fire. It is a team tool rather than a personal power-up, which turns Bloodhound from a solo scanner into someone who sets up ambushes for the whole squad. Loba and Rampart also picked up meaningful buffs, with a faster Black Market on a shorter cooldown and tougher, quicker-building Amped Walls.

World's Edge and the loot game got reshaped too

World's Edge returns with new points of interest built around Bloodhound's story. Climatizer is now the territory of their tribe, complete with longhouse architecture, War Camp replaces Survey Camp, and a new Tree Settlement leans into vertical fights. Old favorites like Sorting Factory are back, and Rampart's Big Maude has moved to Landslide.

The weapon changes might outlast all of it. Energy weapons no longer use lootable ammo at all. Each one carries a stockpile of two to four magazines that regenerates about a magazine's worth every eighteen seconds, so a Volt or L-Star is now a weapon you manage over time instead of feed from bins. On top of that, five new Corrupted Attachments introduce deliberate trade-offs, like the Overflowing Magazine that holds more but reloads slower, limited to one per weapon. Ranked also moves to shorter five day ladders, five of them per split.

One small detail deserves a mention: the free battle pass track includes Purrfect Pals, a weapon charm honoring Benjamin Sklar, a Respawn developer who passed away, modeled on his cats Tia and Sophia. It is a classy touch in a patch full of numbers.

Our take: this is the most interesting Apex season in a long stretch, and it landed in a strange week for its publisher, since EA completed its move to private ownership the very same day. A free update this ambitious is a good early sign that the new owners are letting Respawn cook. If the Bloodhound rework and self-charging energy weapons stick, Season 30 will be remembered for changing the game more than any new legend would have.

FAQ

Does Apex Legends Season 30 add a new legend?

No. Marked skips the new legend entirely and rebuilds Bloodhound instead, with a new passive, a new tactical scan pattern and a cloaking ultimate called Allfather's Cloak. Respawn's roadmap points to ranked updates in Season 31 and bigger changes in Season 32.

What happened to energy ammo in Apex Legends?

Energy weapons no longer use lootable ammo. Each weapon now carries its own stockpile of two to four magazines that regenerates on its own, refilling about a magazine's worth every eighteen seconds.

What are Corrupted Attachments in Apex Legends: Marked?

They are five new high-tier attachments that trade one strength for one weakness, like a bigger magazine that reloads slower. A weapon can only equip one Corrupted Attachment at a time.
