Big Walk Launches August 4, and the Untitled Goose Game Studio Built It Entirely Around Talking to Your Friends
Seven years after a horrible goose stole the internet's heart, House House is back. Big Walk, the studio's cooperative follow-up to Untitled Goose Game, launches this Tuesday, August 4 on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC and Mac via Steam. Publisher Panic is along for the ride again, and PlayStation is making the launch very easy to try: Big Walk is one of August's PlayStation Plus monthly games, claimable at no extra cost from day one.
The premise sounds almost too simple. You and up to eleven friends go for a walk through a wide open stretch of bushland, solving puzzles and finding things together. But the whole game hangs on one clever system: proximity voice chat that behaves like real sound. Voices fade with distance, echo down corridors and muffle through walls, so staying together, splitting up and finding each other again becomes the actual gameplay.

A walk built around talking
Where Untitled Goose Game was a solo (later duo) prank simulator, Big Walk is co-op from the ground up, supporting 2 to 12 players with crossplay between all platforms. House House leans hard into communication as a mechanic. Beyond the positional voice chat, the toolkit is full of things that exist purely to help you reach someone who wandered off: walkie-talkies, megaphones, binoculars, laser pointers and flares. There is even a set of gestures and arm animations for players who would rather wave than talk.
Importantly, this is not an aimless sandbox. The Steam page describes a hand-crafted campaign with a defined ending, filled with puzzles and challenges designed for groups. The key art alone tells you the vibe: little round creatures stacking on top of each other to climb coastal boulders, somewhere that looks a lot like the Australian coastline the Melbourne-based studio calls home. Nobody has a gun. Nobody has a battle pass. It is a walk, with friends, and that is the pitch.
Day one on PS Plus, and a busy Tuesday
The PS Plus deal is the part that could make this launch huge. Big Walk headlines the August monthly games alongside Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition and Signalis, all claimable from August 4 to August 31. A 12-player co-op game lives or dies on whether your friends actually own it, and handing it to every PS Plus subscriber on day one solves that problem instantly on at least one platform.
Tuesday is getting crowded, too. Big Walk shares its launch day with Game Freak's Beast of Reincarnation on Game Pass and Final Fantasy XIV's Switch 2 debut, which makes August 4 quietly one of the best free-to-try days of the summer.
Our take: Untitled Goose Game earned a lifetime of goodwill by being small, funny and finished, and Big Walk looks like the same philosophy applied to friendship instead of mischief. If you have a group chat that still argues about what to play on Friday nights, this is the easiest answer of the month, especially if any of you already pay for PS Plus.
