Big Walk Sells One Million Copies in Six Days, Beating the Goose That Made House House Famous
A game about going for a walk with your friends just outsold almost everything else on the planet. Publisher Panic announced that Big Walk, the co-op adventure from Untitled Goose Game studio House House, passed one million copies sold in its first six days. In Panic's own words, "over one million of you have bought Big Walk, our co-op adventure all about talking and walking."
The number is even better than it looks. Big Walk launched on August 4 as one of August's PlayStation Plus monthly games, which means every PS Plus subscriber can claim it at no extra cost until the end of the month. Panic's announcement counts people who bought the game, and a million of them did it anyway, at 14.99 dollars, in less than a week.

Six days, one million walkers
When we covered the launch last week, the open question was whether a multiplayer-only game built entirely around proximity voice chat could find an audience fast enough to matter. Co-op games live or die on whether your friends actually show up, and Big Walk asks for 2 to 12 of them. The answer arrived quickly. As of today the game sits third on Steam's global top sellers, and the two spots above it are the Steam Machine, which is hardware, and Counter-Strike 2, which is free to play. Among games people actually pay for, the little walking game from Melbourne is currently number one.
The word of mouth machine makes sense once you have played it. Voices fade with distance, echo through caves and muffle behind walls, so every session produces the kind of story you retell in the group chat the next day. That is the sort of thing clips are made of, and clips sell co-op games better than any marketing campaign.
Faster than the goose
The comparison that stings, in a good way, is with House House's own past. Untitled Goose Game was a genuine phenomenon in 2019, and it still needed roughly three months to reach one million copies. Big Walk did it in six days, on a smaller price tag, in a far more crowded market. It has been a strong summer for cooperative indies in general, with PEAK wrapping up its final update today after its own breakout year, but even in that company this pace stands out.
Our take: this is what happens when a studio spends seven years on one clear idea instead of chasing trends. Big Walk has no battle pass, no season roadmap and no live service hooks, just a finished game that needs friends to work. A million people deciding that is worth 15 dollars in week one feels like the healthiest news the industry has produced all month.
