Marvel Contest of Champions Champion Tier List (October 2026)

This Marvel Contest of Champions champion tier list ranks the champions worth your rank-up materials right now, across all six classes, based on how they perform on offense in questing, Battlegrounds and Alliance War.

We cross-checked three September 2026 rankings and kept the picks they agree on. Where a champion is a god on one list and mid on another, we say so in the note instead of pretending there is a consensus.

Blue Marvel and M'Baku are still too new to rank with confidence, so they sit out this round.

How we rank

We rank offensive value first: raw damage, utility (power control, nullify, immunities), how forgiving the champion is when you make a mistake, and how many endgame fights they can actually take. Defense value counts as a bonus, not the main score. S is the champions that carry accounts, A is excellent with fewer matchups, B is solid and worth ranking if you pulled them, C is situational, and D is the champions almost every recent list agrees you can skip. Rankings assume a fully awakened, high signature champion where it matters.

Tier by tier

S Tier, the meta

  • Hercules: Immortality window forgives mistakes, top damage everywhere
  • Doctor Doom: Power control, nullify and damage in one kit
  • Nick Fury: Second life plus huge bleed damage, still elite
  • Ghost: Phase ignores everything, highest skill ceiling and payoff
  • Archangel: Neurotoxins shut down abilities and melt health
  • Human Torch: Incinerates and nullifies through most Mystic fights
  • Kate Bishop: Flexible arrows handle almost any matchup
  • Tigra: Pounce parries and burst damage, brutal on offense

A Tier, excellent

  • Cosmic Ghost Rider: Massive burst once the judgment rotation is set
  • Kitty Pryde: Phasing and prowess make her a safe, strong attacker
  • Onslaught: Top Mutant on every list, immense damage
  • Absorbing Man: Adapts his kit to the matchup, very versatile
  • Shang-Chi: Combo based damage, punishes defenders hard
  • Quake: Concussion control, unbeatable when you master the tech
  • Scorpion: Debuff heavy kit, strong in Battlegrounds
  • Ant-Man (Future): One of the highest offensive ceilings in Tech
  • Hyperion: Buff stacking damage machine, easy to play

B Tier, solid

  • The Serpent: Great defender, decent attacker, S on two lists
  • Hulkling: Strong offense with defensive utility
  • Photon: Control specialist, S plus on one list, B on another
  • Nimrod: Mutant hunter, excellent in the right node
  • Warlock: Reliable utility and sustain, aging a little
  • Valkyrie: Dangerous against the right classes
  • Spot: Snowballs hard once momentum builds

C Tier, situational

  • Apocalypse: Immunities and horsemen synergy, average damage
  • Colossus: Tanky and armor heavy, damage needs synergies
  • Sentinel: Debuff stacker, fine early, outclassed later
  • Star-Lord: Long combo ramp, fragile if you get hit

D Tier, skip

  • Iron Patriot: Bottom of Tech on every recent list
  • Kang: Outdated kit, no place in the current meta
  • Groot: Low damage, no utility, pure arena fodder
  • Elektra: Ability accuracy gimmick, nothing else
  • Moon Knight: Phase based damage that never lands

Marvel Contest of Champions tier list FAQ

Who is the best champion in Marvel Contest of Champions right now?

Hercules is the closest thing to a consensus number one in September 2026. His immortality phase lets you tank damage that would end most runs, and his damage keeps up with anyone. Doctor Doom, Nick Fury and Ghost are the other names that top nearly every list.

How often does the MCOC meta change?

Two new champions arrive every month and Kabam buffs older ones a few times a year, so tiers shift constantly at the edges. The top eight or so have been stable for a long time, which is why they are S here. We re-check the list after each major balance pass.

Should I rank up a champion just because they are S tier?

Only if you have the class materials to spare and the champion fills a gap in your roster. A B tier champion you know how to play well beats an S tier champion you never awakened. Utility for the content you are actually stuck on matters more than the letter.

Why are Blue Marvel and M'Baku missing?

They are the newest additions and the lists we track have not settled on where they land. Early impressions are strong for both. We add champions once at least two independent rankings place them.
