Pokémon TCG Pocket Launches Deluxe Pack: Mega on September 29
If you missed a Mega Evolution card during the last few expansions, The Pokémon Company just gave you a second shot. Deluxe Pack: Mega arrives in Pokémon TCG Pocket on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. PDT, and its whole point is to reissue the good stuff. Every pack holds four cards, and every pack is guaranteed to contain one Pokémon ex.
For the rest of the world, that launch time works out to 9:00 p.m. EDT, or 2:00 a.m. BST on September 30 in the UK. The announcement went up on the official Pokémon site on September 24, alongside an official trailer, which you can watch below.

What is actually in the packs
Deluxe Pack: Mega is not a new set in the usual sense. It draws from the expansions that ran from Mega Rising through Ruler of the Skies, the July release headlined by Mega Rayquaza ex, and it reissues every four diamond rarity card from that stretch. That is the tier where the Mega ex cards live, so this is the pack to open if your collection has a Mega Charizard X or Mega Lucario shaped hole in it. On top of the straight reissues, the pool includes parallel foil versions and cards with brand new artwork, so long-time players still have something fresh to chase.
The four card format is smaller than a regular five card booster, but the guaranteed Pokémon ex per pack is a much better floor than the standard rarity rules. Cosmetics follow a day later: covers and backdrops featuring Mega Charizard X unlock on Wednesday, September 30. The official page does not list an end date for the pack, and it does not say what the packs cost in hourglasses or tickets, so we will not guess at either.
Events now, a big rework in late October
The launch comes with a slate of events. From late September into early October, a mass outbreak event puts parallel foil cards into rare picks and bonus picks, with event missions paying out shop tickets for picking and collecting specific cards. Then, from mid to late October, Ranked Match Season B4b SP hands out more rank points than usual, stretches the win streak bonus to a maximum of ten consecutive wins, and removes rank point losses and demotions on defeat at every rank. A Mega Garchomp ex Drop Event awards B Series vol. 13 promo packs through solo battles, and a wonder pick event brings Charmander and Drampa cards.
The bigger news is what happens toward the end of October, when several systems get rebuilt. A community decks feature lets you search decks other players have made public and build them if you own the cards. Your current rental decks will be deleted, replaced by rentals built from the latest booster packs that you can use an unlimited number of times in solo and versus battles, while theme deck lists and deck missions are discontinued. Step-up battles are being reworked into a new solo battle system where difficulty rises as you progress, and once that lands, the current step-up battles, their first-time rewards and their battle tasks are gone. Finally, the Release Celebration Poké Gold deals end when the new series begins, in the app and on the official web store.
Our take: the reissue pack is a fair way to catch up, and the guaranteed ex is the detail that makes it worth spending hourglasses on rather than waiting for a new set. The part to act on now is the step-up battle rework. If you have unclaimed first-time rewards sitting in the current step-up ladder, clear them before late October, because the official wording says they will not be obtainable afterwards. The same goes for the Poké Gold deals if you were ever going to buy them.
