Two years ago to the day, a burnt out solo mobile developer put a card shop game on Steam Early Access mostly because he wanted to make Steam Trading Cards and open infinite booster packs without paying for them. Today, on September 15, 2026, that game leaves Early Access. TCG Card Shop Simulator version 1.0 is out now on Steam, and it is also launching for the first time on PS5, Switch 2 and the original Switch, alongside the existing Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC versions. The Steam price is $19.99, with a 15 percent launch discount bringing it to $16.99 for now.

The headline of the 1.0 update is the thing players have asked for since the roadmap first went up: you can now actually play the Tetramon trading card game instead of only stocking, pricing and grading it. We went through the launch post and the FAQ from developer OPNeon Games, and here is what changed.

The card game you can finally play

Tetramon matches are designed to be short, around three to five minutes, and they happen inside your running shop. When a lone customer is waiting at the play table, you walk up, press the right mouse button or the right face button on a gamepad, and the duel starts while the store keeps trading around you. Decks are 50 cards, built and edited at the Workbench, which is also where the full rulebook lives. One catch worth knowing before you buy for the card game alone: the Workbench unlocks at shop level 7, so a fresh save will not be dueling in the first hour.

Deck lists can be copied and shared as text, deck boxes and playmats are tied to the licenses you have unlocked, and if you are rich enough you can run a deck made entirely of full art foils. The tournament system you could already host now lets you enter your own event, and if you place well you keep the prizes. Customers also hand over a gift pack when you play against them. The FAQ is clear that all of this is single player against NPCs, with no multiplayer planned for the near future, and no cross save between Steam and consoles.

The other big content drop is the Ascension card set, which adds 1,452 new cards with fully illustrated Tetramons and backgrounds, a project the developer says took more than six months with several art studios. Across the whole Early Access run the collectible pool went from 2,714 cards to 4,436, items to sell went from 77 to 111, and furniture types from 21 to 43. The 1.0 patch also lists model and texture optimisation, lower memory use, a fix for the tournament bug that left customers naked or missing after a reload, and 55 community art contest pieces added as in game posters.

Why this one matters

The numbers behind this launch are unusual. The developer, Ding Shen Sia, writes that he would have been happy selling 100,000 copies in a year and instead hit that figure in three days. Xbox's own post from August put the player count at more than 3.5 million across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Preview and PC, and noted the game is on Game Pass. The console ports were handled by General Arcade, which is how a one person project ends up on five console platforms on the same day.

It is a busy day for Early Access graduations. RuneScape: Dragonwilds also reaches 1.0 today on the same consoles, which we covered in our Dragonwilds 1.0 launch story, and Valheim made the same jump last week. If you are picking one to start tonight, TCG Card Shop Simulator is the calm one, and the developer says 1.0 is a milestone rather than an ending, with the leftover roadmap items and more content still to come.

FAQ

Do my Early Access saves carry over to TCG Card Shop Simulator 1.0?

Yes. The developer's launch FAQ says save files from version 0.70 carry over, so there is no need to start a new shop.

Can I play the Tetramon card game against other people?

Not at launch. Matches are built to be played against NPC customers only, and the developer says there are no plans for multiplayer in the near future.

Is there cross save between Steam and consoles?

No. The launch FAQ states that cross save between consoles and Steam is not currently available.
