Warframe: Iceblade of Narin Launches With the 66th Warframe

We have been playing Warframe on and off for years, and the free update cadence is still the thing that keeps pulling us back. Today it is Iceblade of Narin's turn. Digital Extremes is rolling the update out on September 23 across PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android, and it doubles as the game's debut on the Samsung Galaxy Store, with cross-platform progression carrying your account over.

The headline is Narin, the 66th Warframe and the first female ice-themed one. Digital Extremes calls her a "Sword Dancer Warframe": she fights with a swift rapier and uses ice to heal and defend as much as to attack, and she arrives with a signature bow and a pair of dual pistols. Her blueprints are sold by a new vendor, Cephalon Melica, on a new Earth node, and they are paid for with Entropic Kuva, a new currency dropped by Entropic Eximus enemies.

Yuvan Peak, the free Banshee, and what is not in today's patch

The new node is Yuvan Peak, a mountain summit on the dark side of Earth that serves as a social relay. Its centerpiece is Narin's Crest, where her legendary sword sits encased in ice, and Digital Extremes is openly teasing the question of who will be the first to pull it out. This is also where Melica's shop lives, so expect the usual ritual of farming a new resource in the surrounding missions and then trading it in for the frame and her weapons.

Banshee gets the other big chunk of the update. Her sound-based kit has been reworked for better synergies across her abilities, more survivability and a general quality-of-life bump, and Digital Extremes wants everyone to try it: log in on any platform between September 23 and October 7 and you receive the base Banshee plus a pre-built Forma, with no Mastery Rank requirement. Players who log in through the Samsung Galaxy Store also get a Manegarmr Ephemera and the Valentine color palette. A new Banshee Threnodia Deluxe Skin with a gothic look ships alongside the rework, and that one is a paid cosmetic.

One thing to know before you jump in expecting the full package: the six-player Glacial Defiance mode is not live today. It is built around Weekly Cryobells acquired at Yuvan Peak, with modifiers that stack across the squad for veteran groups who want a real challenge. Digital Extremes flagged during Devstream 197 that it might not make the launch build, and the official update page now states plainly that it "will be released in the weeks after" the main patch. We would rather have that than a broken launch, but if Glacial Defiance was your reason to reinstall, give it a few weeks.

Citrine Prime today, Taubound on October 15

Citrine Prime Access also opens September 23. The pack lineup includes Citrine Prime herself, the Steflos Prime shotgun, the Corufell Prime heavy weapon and a set of Prime accessories such as the Sphatika Prime Syandana. As always, the Prime frame and her weapons can also be farmed through Void Relics in-game, so the packs are a shortcut rather than the only route. Digital Extremes has not published pack prices on the announcement page, so we are not quoting any.

Further out, Epoch Operation: Taubound starts October 15 and runs through November 17, and Digital Extremes says there will be no reruns. Players complete missions on Eris to collect Moonflesh and trade it to the Sentient Mothership Praghasa for event-exclusive rewards and daily story messages that will not repeat once the event closes. You only need Vor's Prize to take part in the basic activity, but finishing The Hex and The Old Peace unlocks the new Tau Prologue quest, which is permanent and sets up the road to the Tau system. Our take: Iceblade of Narin is a solid free update with one honest asterisk on the co-op mode, and the free Banshee window makes this an easy week to log back in even if you only stay for an hour.
