Enshrouded Leaves Early Access October 15 at a Higher Price

Early Access games rarely get a clean ending, so it is worth noting when one actually picks a day and sticks to it. Keen Games has been saying October 15 since late June, and in the last two weeks the studio has filled in what 1.0 will really contain. Next week the survival crafting RPG Enshrouded stops being an Early Access project and becomes a finished game.

The headline is simple, but the details matter more than the date. We have gone through the studio's Steam posts to separate what is confirmed from what is still unclear, and to say who should care.

What 1.0 actually changes

Three pieces of the update have been shown in detail. The first is combat. Keen says mages needed "a little bit of love", and the answer is nine new spells, including Blizzard, Ball Lightning, Entangle and a new summon category with totems and a Hollow Skeleton. Spells also get more versions, so a favorite from an earlier biome stays useful later. There are 22 tier 7 "Eternal" spell versions that do not consume spell ammo, and those can now be upgraded like weapons and armor. Casting times and mana costs were rebalanced around damage output, and wands get a piercing heavy attack.

The second is Sparkworks, shown in a video on October 8. It is a logic toolset: you wire a lever or pressure plate to a door or a trap and build from there. The studio frames it as a way to make your own puzzles and small adventures, and a bridge that secretly turns into trapdoors is its own joke example. Whether it stays a building toy or turns into a real community content engine depends on how deep the system goes, and we will only know once people get their hands on it.

The third is performance. In August the team published a behind the scenes video about making the game run better, with a stated focus on lower and mid range systems. That is the part we care about most, because Enshrouded's big voxel worlds and heavy lighting have long been demanding. The studio has not published benchmark numbers, so treat this as a promise until real tests land. A full highlights video and release changelog are due close to launch.

The price rise and what to do about it

On August 31 Keen announced that the price would go up by 10 euros, to 39.99 euros or the local equivalent, on September 8. The studio says it always planned a price increase when Early Access ended, and that it will fund further development. During the discount event before that, the game briefly dropped to 22.49 euros, so anyone who bought then paid far less than a new player will on October 15.

If you own the game already, nothing changes for you except a large update. If you have been waiting, the honest comparison is that the days of the cheap entry are over, and the question is whether 1.0 is worth about 40 euros to you. Our guess is that it is for anyone who wants co-op survival with real building depth, but we would not buy purely on a trailer. Reading early impressions of the performance changes first is cheap insurance.

One note on platforms. The studio's site links both Steam and PlayStation 5 stores, and the Sparkworks coverage mentions PC and PS5 for October 15. We did not find an official Xbox date in the sources we checked, so we are not stating one.

Our take

Ending Early Access with a firm date, a visible combat rework and a performance push is the right order of priorities. The risk is the usual one: a big 1.0 patch lands on day one and brings new bugs with it, especially on a game with deep systems. If you are a returning player, our advice is to expect a rough first weekend and keep a backup of your world. If you are new, the October 15 launch is a sensible moment to start, because the whole game will be in its intended shape at once.

Enshrouded also arrives in a crowded survival season. If you want a comparison point for how another big survival crafter handled its own exit from Early Access, we covered the Palworld 1.0 launch earlier this year.

FAQ

When does Enshrouded 1.0 release?

Keen Games says the game leaves Early Access on Steam on October 15, 2026. The studio's own site also lists a PlayStation 5 version, and the Sparkworks announcement points to the same day for PC and PS5.

How much does Enshrouded cost now?

Keen Games raised the price by 10 euros to 39.99 euros (or the local equivalent) on September 8. Before that rise, a Steam sale had pushed it down to 22.49 euros. Check the current price on your own store, since regional pricing and sales vary.

Do I need to buy the game again for 1.0?

No. If you already own Enshrouded on Steam, 1.0 is an update to the game you have. The price rise only affects new buyers.

What is Sparkworks?

Sparkworks is a new logic system arriving with 1.0. It lets you connect inputs such as levers or pressure plates to outputs such as doors or traps, so you can build puzzles, trap rooms and small adventures inside your own base.
