There is something satisfying about a studio that picks a date and means it. Fields of Mistria entered Early Access on August 5, 2024, and NPC Studio shipped version 1.0 on August 5, 2026, two years later to the day. The fantasy farming sim leaves Early Access with one of the best track records on Steam, sitting at Overwhelmingly Positive across roughly 27,000 reviews, and the full release keeps the same 13.99 dollar price the game has carried since day one. The studio has said outright that it has no plans to raise it, and there is a 10 percent discount running until August 13 if you have been waiting on the sidelines.

Marriage, children and a finished story

The headline addition is the one fans have asked about since the start: you can finally get married. Every datable character now has a 10 heart event, proposals happen with an engagement ring you craft at the forge, and weddings are properly customizable, down to the flower colors, the cake flavor and the meal served at the reception. After the wedding, an item called the Mystical Feather opens up the option of having children, so the family farm can actually become a family farm.

The rest of 1.0 is about closure. The town repair questline can now be completed, the renown cap rises to 100, and the story NPC Studio sketched out two years ago is playable start to finish, with new Saturday Market events and quests like the Bell Tower repair rounding out the town. Two new merchants, Stillwell and Zorel, join the market, and Zorel sells crystals that let you change the music on your farm and inside your home, which is a small feature with a very cozy purpose. Steam achievements arrive too, and they unlock retroactively, so a long running save gets credit for everything already done. And yes, there is now a Big Chicken you can ride around the valley, which is exactly the kind of final patch note this game deserves.

Two years, zero price hikes, one clear plan

Early Access graduations have quietly become some of the best stories in gaming this year. Palworld made the same leap in July after two and a half years, and Fields of Mistria now does it with a discipline that is rare even among finished games: a locked price, a public roadmap it actually followed, and a launch date that doubles as an anniversary. Version 1.0 also adds beta localizations in seven languages, including French, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Russian and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese, which should widen the audience considerably.

The one caveat is platforms. This is a Steam release, and NPC Studio says console ports will be evaluated later, so Switch and PlayStation players are still waiting for news. If you have a PC that can run a pixel art farming sim, though, which is to say almost any PC, this is about as safe as a 13.99 dollar purchase gets.
