Sony Reveals the Lisa Limited Edition DualSense, Pre-Orders October 2

Sony has a habit of turning the DualSense into a collector's item, and today it went outside gaming to do it. The PlayStation Blog just revealed the DualSense wireless controller Lisa Limited Edition, a collaboration with the BLACKPINK singer that also brings a full Lisa x PlayStation merchandise collection. The controller costs $84.99, pre-orders open on October 2 at 10am local time, and it ships on October 30 in what Sony calls highly limited quantities.

The two companies are not strangers. Lisa fronted Sony's global PS5 campaign last year, and this pad is the follow-up she apparently helped design herself. In the announcement she says gaming is what she does to relax and that she snuck in "little details that I knew my fans would notice." Looking at the touch pad, we would say that is an understatement.

Her eyes on the touch pad, Chroma Pearl everywhere else

The design centers on the touch pad, where Lisa's bangs and eyes are printed in a stylized illustration, so every time you swipe the pad you are swiping across her face. Around it Sony has scattered her signature star motifs and a bold "LL" monogram, and the whole thing sits on a Chroma Pearl colorway, a pearlescent white that shifts with the light and which the blog describes as Lisa's personal favorite. The official images show a soft holographic shimmer on the grips rather than a flat white, so it should read closer to the iridescent finish of the Chroma series than to the plain DualSense that ships with the console.

Everything under the shell is stock. This is a regular DualSense with the same haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, built-in mic and motion sensors, which is why Sony's own trailer lists it for both PS5 and PC. There is no exclusive feature, no bundled game and no charging station in the box. At $84.99, or 84.99 euros, 74.99 pounds and 12,480 yen with tax, it lands at exactly the same premium Sony asked for the Grand Theft Auto VI limited edition controllers earlier this month, which tells you where the company now prices any special edition pad.

Where to buy it, and what the merch line includes

Pre-orders open on October 2 at 10am local time. US buyers go through direct.playstation.com from 10am ET. Players in the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg pre-order from the hardware section of playstation.com. Participating retailers worldwide will also carry it from the October 30 release, though Sony repeats the phrase "while supplies last" several times, and the GTA 6 pads showed how quickly a limited DualSense can vanish.

The merchandise side is US-only for now and comes in two waves. A first assortment of apparel, hats, tote bags, keychains, stickers and a DualSense carrying case goes up for pre-order on PlayStation Direct on October 2 at 10am ET and launches on October 30 alongside the controller. A second assortment arrives earlier, on October 23, through Lisa's official Amazon store and the Amazon Music app. That October 23 date is not random: it is also the release day of her new EP, Press Play, and the blog post signs off with the same phrase. Sony has not published prices for any of the clothing or accessories yet, so we are only quoting the controller.

Our take

This is a cosmetic controller with a big name attached, and it will sell out for reasons that have nothing to do with adaptive triggers. If you are a BLACKPINK fan with a PS5, set an alarm for October 2 because the GTA 6 precedent suggests the first drop will not last the morning. If you just want a pretty white DualSense, the standard Chroma editions cost less and are always in stock. What we like is that Sony keeps the hardware honest, same pad, same price as its other limited editions, no gimmick tax. What we would like to see next is a wider retail allocation, because a controller that only a few hundred fans can actually buy is more marketing than product.
